FLORIS WUBBEN
EXCLUSIVE EXHIBITION ON VIEW AT THE FUTURE PERFECT, NEW YORK
One of the great design exports to emerge from Amsterdam is Floris Wubben, a contemporary designer who is internationally renowned for his unique products that cross the intersection between functional and sculptural design. His work contains elements of nature, which is a reoccuring theme that is present in all his collections. Wubben, established his studio in Amsterdam in 2009 where all his collections are still made, and ever since have been collected by museums and galleries worldwide.
His latest body of work has been designed exclusively for The Future Perfect and is currently on view at the ‘Casa Perfect’ in New York. The Casa Perfect is a curated gallery concept that is set in a five-storey townhouse that was designed by the British Architect David Chipperfield, located in the West Village. The exhibition is currently running until the end of April 2021, and is on view for all collectors, designers and lovers of design who are fortunate to be in New York to explore Wubben’s latest collection by appointment only.
For his latest exhibition, Wubben stated that he and his team had “pushed everything to the limit” which involved the artist exploring the unknown, and developing new understandings of scale and surface. Whilst existing production techniques were used, the latest collection has also experimented with new techniques of fabrication.
“Wubben demonstrates an ability to experiment and grow through the use of a stolid vocabulary. Familiar yet unexpected and inventive, these works implement a new vision from a stylistically prophetic artist who is highly competent, resourceful and determined. While some of the processes may be instantly recognisable, Wubben has expanded his lexicon to include invigorating new forms and apparatuses. Incorporating mirrors, lighting and a range of glazes, Wubben’s ceramics are dynamic and expressive while maintaining a soft, poetic eloquence.”
